Des coussins qui rendent accessible la déco responsable

Cushions that make responsible decoration accessible

Have you ever wondered why handmade creations are often more expensive than industrial products? And what is the price of your Opportunity for Women cushion order? In this article, we answer all your questions, in the interest of transparency, and we tell you more about the concept of slow deco .

Why does a handcrafted object cost more?

Simply because it is carefully made, by hand, by a craftsman. The manual work ask for a significant production time … and a lot of patience! In addition, the craftsman often shapes natural materials , the production cost of which is higher.

This is the case of weavers Ede And Lao , two ethnic minorities in Vietnam, who perpetuate the ancestral know-how of hand weaving on a belt loom . Their remuneration is calculated fairly, depending on the difficulty and time required by each textile production. In addition, the cushions in the collection Dokmai , woven by Lao weavers, are also spun and dyed from cotton grown by the weavers without chemicals!

This is why we are talking about slow deco. The principle, in a few lines:

  • artisanal production, in an approach of fair trade and respect for labor law
  • an environmentally friendly manufacturing process, using natural, recycled or upcycled materials
  • permanent and timeless collections, unlike the seasonal trends in the textile industry which encourage overconsumption
  • quality objects, designed to last over time
  • simple, recycled, recyclable or reusable packaging

What is the price of the Opportunity for Women cushions?

trendethics-tisserandes-lao-Lee Anh Tuan Ⓒ Anh Chi Em Opportunity for Women offers collections of hand-woven artisanal cushions. The aim of the association is to donate 5% of sales profits to to fund solidarity and sustainable development projects in Southeast Asia .

To achieve this goal, the selling price of a cushion must first be high enough to cover production costs (materials, supplies, pay for weavers and seamstresses, transportation, business costs related to marketing and e-commerce) .

Then this price is adjusted upwards so that this profit can benefit the actions of the association , such as for example the financing of professional training for the weavers . Yours donations to our association They also contribute directly to improving the living and working conditions of weavers from ethnic minorities.

Only €39 for a hand-woven artisanal cushion, how is that possible?

Aware of the high budget that responsible decoration can represent, we have developed a range of decorative artisanal cushions at lower prices: the Hruh Hnue Beige and Diane Rose models, priced at just €39.

The difference with the other cushions from our collection? The price, that's all! These models are always woven in accordance with the same values: craftsmanship and sustainable development . They are hand-woven by the weavers of the Ede ethnic group, in Vietnam, with recycled polyester threads.

To produce these cushions, we are making a gesture by reducing our margins to the lowest possible, in order to democratize responsible decoration. Their price of €39 only covers all the costs incurred by the production process (raw materials, wages of weavers and seamstresses, transport, association costs: HR, tools, etc.).

Of course, it must be taken into account that the low price of these more affordable models does not allow our association to return profits to our project of empowerment of the ethnic groups of Southeast Asia. On the other hand, by purchasing this type of cushion, you are already contributing to preserving jobs and know-how that are being lost!

These Handmade cushions cost only €39.
