A relationship of trust with our Asian weavers
Today, Lucie reveals her secrets for creating a relationship of trust with our weavers!
- Why did you decide to work with weavers in Asia?
I taught French to female students in Vietnam while volunteering with the Missions Etrangères de Paris. One of them, My, showed me her traditional hand-woven costume.
⚡️ Their professionalism, know-how, friendliness and the aesthetics of their fabric immediately seduced me. I wanted to do something to help them: to make more people benefit from their know-how and help them to have a supplementary income.
I met Marie on my way home. We pooled our knowledge of the business and start-up world to serve these women with magic fingers with the aim of gradually making them independent in managing the sale of their cushions. The Opportunity for Women association was born! ✨
How to successfully create a professional and supportive relationship remotely?
It all started with meetings that I had through NGOs locally by going to the villages.
The secret , which is not for anyone but which feels good to hear it again, to create a sincere and trusting bond with a person: to meet and spend time together . I spent months with women, slipping into their daily lives. This is how they accepted me and trust me.
To help with communication and connection, once I left, I identified a local person in each village with whom I communicate more regularly.
- How do you manage to coordinate the weavers with the e-shop?
I adapt ! Each local interlocutor has their preferred communication tool, I juggle between each (Viber, Whatsapp, Messenger, Zalo ...) to continue to feed this thread that unites us.
In terms of production, we will follow the rhythm of the weavers who weave when they have less work in their fields!
We adapt to their daily reality.
We order new parts as we go!
