Description
Description
This handwoven cotton cushion is inspired by the ancestral craftsmanship of Kayan women, an ethnic group from Loikaw in Myanmar. Each piece is unique, made on a traditional loom, and reflects a culture where textiles are both functional and deeply meaningful. Kayan cushions are made from cotton dyed locally in Myanmar by a skilled artisan, and the women weave them by hand using traditional looms.
Know-how
Know-how
This cushion is the result of traditional Kayan women's weaving, a skill passed down through generations in the mountain villages of Myanmar. Woven on a backstrap loom, each textile is crafted by hand with patience and precision. The patterns, both simple and symbolic, express the cultural identity of the Kayan people and their deep connection to nature. This artisanal work helps preserve ancient techniques while providing a source of local income.
Impact
Impact
These cushions are much more than simple decorative items: they embody a true ethical and social commitment. By supporting the Kayan weavers, you are taking part in a solidarity movement that allows them to earn a dignified living from their craft while preserving an ancient tradition. Each cushion sold directly supports these women artisans, providing them with resources to improve their living conditions and sustain their heritage.
