Description
Description
These silk cushions are woven in Inle Lake in Myanmar using the “ikat” process.
Ikat is a dyeing and weaving process in which the design is created by first dyeing the yarn in all the colours that will appear in it, at very precise intervals, so that at the time of weaving the elements of the design are created by the juxtaposition of the parts of the yarn of the appropriate colour. When dyeing the yarn, the parts that are to be preserved from a certain dye colour are hidden by a thread that is tied to the weft thread. The yarn is then dipped in the dye. The process is repeated for the other shades.
The black and yellow design brings a contrasting brightness, ideal for enhancing any living space. Crafted from natural silk, each cushion reflects a unique fragment of Burmese art.
