20 weavers and 11 seamstresses
YounSone is a sewing workshop in Yangon that supports disadvantaged women in Myanmar by providing training and sustainable employment, while promoting traditional Burmese fabrics. By modernizing local crafts, the initiative preserves ancestral skills, strengthens cultural pride, and improves community living conditions.
Opportunity for Women has supported this social enterprise since its inception, helping it develop products, find markets, and structure the business.
The project aims to train weavers in sewing (using sewing machines), to create a range of products that meet the target audience (travelers, hotels/tourist accommodation), to train them in marketing techniques and to support them in creating a showcase that will allow them to sell their products and run weaving/dyeing workshops for tourists.
